Interpal recognises that whereas the provision of relief and emergency humanitarian aid is essential to Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as the refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon, the delivery of development aid is just as important. Interpal endeavours to carry out sustainable projects in order to ensure that the funds it expends have a high, lasting and continuing impact on the lives of its ultimate beneficiaries.

For this reason its work on the ground, especially that driven by its Gaza Field Office, is geared towards identifiying and assessing the need for development projects such as the setting up of water desalination plants, the provision of support for Palestinian farmers and producers, and the empowerment of the disabled through programme specially designed for them.
