August 23: 2010

Interpal’s Birmingham Office raised £5,000 through two live radio appeals on Unity FM on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 August 2010. These much needed funds were raised in support of Interpal’s Ramadan Campaign aimed at providing Food Aid, Financial Aid, Education Aid and Medical Aid during this blessed month. We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest appreciation to all our donors and supporters in the Birmingham area for their generosity and du’as for the poor and needy of Palestine. May the blessings of Ramadan be upon you all.

Interpal raised over £70,000 during its Ramadan Live Appeal broadcast on Islam Channel last night. We would like to thank our donors and volunteers for their unstinting support; the funds raised will go a long way towards helping to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians in the midst of a humanitarian catastrophe. The nature of their situation as a man-made disaster means that the circumstances are unlikely to improve in the foreseeable future. The need for your ongoing support is thus as great as ever.

We hope that you will continue to help the people of Palestine once again by tuning in to our live appeals on Islam Channel on 24 August and 8 September 2010. Please visit our Ramadan Campaign page for further details of Interpal's aid packages for the Blessed Month

The Interpal crew will return to the UK shortly in time for the start of Ramadan.

Google “contaminated water in the Gaza Strip” under Google images and you will find a picture of water being poured from one white bucket to another. Nearly 93% of available water in the Gaza Strip is deemed to fall below WHO standards and is therefore unfit for human consumption. Yet for the poor this is sometimes the only water that is available to them. What is happening is that those forced to consume contaminated water is being slowly poisoned. Children, old people and the infirm are those most at risk and are exposed to severe health problems such as mental disabilities.
