Interpal medical aid convoy PDF Print E-mail

Interpal staff and volunteers accompanying the European medical aid convoy that was in the Egyptian port of Al-Arish a few hours ago have just now entered the Gaza Strip where they will deliver much needed medical equipment and supplies, including ambulances and specially adapted vans for use by the disabled, to the people of Gaza.

The Interpal crew will return to the UK shortly in time for the start of Ramadan.

As world leaders and mainstream news outlets sing the praises of Israel’s June 17 decision to ease its stranglehold blockade of the Gaza Strip, there is little prospect of change for Palestinians living under siege. Previously banned consumer items such as toys, newspapers, spices, and instant coffee are now passing through two of Gaza’s land border crossings, but the seaports remain tightly closed, all exports are still prohibited, and there is no sign of much-needed construction material.

European medical aid convoy to Gaza PDF Print E-mail

As a result of the distressing health and medical situation in the Gaza Strip, various European participants have arranged a Medical Aid Convoy which hopes to deliver essential medical supplies and equipment to the people of Gaza before the fasting month of Ramadan. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) issued a report in June declaring that the state of the health care system in the Gaza Strip has never been worse. The occupation, coupled with the recent military operation and the blockade on Gaza, has had a devastating impact on the 1.5 million residents of Gaza. The people of Gaza are now in desperate need of medical aid as they continue to suffer from an acute and ongoing shortage in medicines and medical equipment, with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) stating that 114 essential drugs are completely out of stock in Gaza.

Interpal staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to raise funds in order to continue providing medical aid, and would like to thank donors for their unstinting support.

Outcome of libel case PDF Print E-mail

Interpal’s lawyers, Carter-Ruck have today issued a Press Release to mark the close of the charity’s libel case against the Sunday Express. A Statement was read in the High Court this morning before Mr. Justice Eady to confirm the paper’s acceptance that the allegations it made against Interpal were completely false as well as its apology to the Trustees.
